PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

PATHOKIL is a benzoic-acid-based sanitizer for horticultural use.
It supports crop and farm hygiene practices.
Suitable for labelled applications, including glasshouses containing crops.

MODE OF ACTION

Benzoic acid is a weak aromatic carboxylic acid used for antimicrobial sanitation. Its antimicrobial activity is pH-dependent and works by interfering with the internal pH balance of susceptible microorganisms. In its undissociated form, benzoic acid can penetrate microbial cells, where it releases hydrogen ions and disrupts intracellular pH regulation.

This interferes with the activity of essential metabolic enzymes and other cellular processes. Microorganisms expend additional energy, including ATP, in an attempt to restore their internal pH balance. This increased energy demand can impair normal metabolism and cellular functions. Under suitable conditions, these effects can inhibit microbial growth and affect cell viability.
